As a K1 Visa holder, by law you are advised to get married within 90 days of your arrival in the United States. After marriage , you can then apply for Adjustment of Status (AOS) using I-485 to remain in the United States legally. Along with that, you will be required to provide for an on-going marital relationship, one of them is Joint Bank Account/s of you and your spouse. So my husband added me on his bank account. His bank were asking for SSN, my passport, marriage license and my Permanent Resident Card. I had them all.
